Il libro vuole essere una ricognizione delle migliori esperienze di riuso del patrimonio industriale condotte in Italia negli ultimi 30 anni. Nella prima sezione “Le fabbriche com’erano” il lettore potrà trovare un breve profilo storico degli stabilimenti di cui, nella seconda sezione “Le fabbriche ritrovate”, sono illustrati i progetti attraverso cui gli architetti hanno reinterpretato forma e funzioni delle architetture industriali. Nella terza sezione “Fabbriche e città” compaiono gli esempi di alcuni quartieri urbani in cui il recupero del patrimonio industriale dismesso ha rappresentato una leva fondamentale per la loro rigenerazione.

The book is intended as a survey of the best experiences of industrial heritage reuse carried out in Italy over the last 30 years.In the first section, “Factories as they were”, the reader will find a brief historical profile of the factories, while the second section, “Rediscovered factories”, illustrates the projects through which architects have reinterpreted the form and functions of industrial architecture.The third section, “Factories and the city”, presents examples of a number of urban districts in which the recovery of disused industrial heritage has been a fundamental lever for their regeneration.
